Well, this will be my final blog post for 2009 !! Time flies !! Another year has passed... scary actually. Just came back from HK with fewer things to buy! hee... Still very much into scrapbooking but now more focussed on mini-albums. They are easier to make. I have also made some new cards... here they are, pretty? ;)

Mad about Craft

I am very 'into' my craft work lately. My hobby was revived !! I used to do stamping, embossing, craft punching etc.... but stopped for quite some time since I started teaching. But lately, I bought a new die-cutting machine and the craze is back !! I bought many dies and new clear stamps. I even converted a small corner in my room for my craft work. It is now a craft workshop with everything I need !!!

My my... it has been a YEAR since my last post! Anyway, it's the National Day long weekend and so I thought I would just update my fungi blog. Nothing happening much lately... bought a hamster in April and enjoying being a pet owner again since 'I don't know when'. Love hamsters but they die too young... sniff.. sniff... so the heartache is too much to bear sometimes.... Well .. here's hammy... cute?? Fat eh? Packing.. the must-do in my holiday plans... well..I am quite pleased with the results.. two rooms in one full day ! Yay.. and lots of things to donate to the salvation army. I had to 'harden' my heart to give them away ! haa... if not my house will be 'over-crowded' with stuff !

Now shan's room is very neat and my study is clean ! Finally ! It was like a junk yard for about half a year ! So I will expect it to be a junk yard again when the December hols come ! haa... Will try hard not to mess it up but quite unlikely !

It's books galore lately ! Kinokuniya was having a 20% sale for members and I bought many books - comics, cook books, children's books, novels, etc... Someone commented that my house could be a library and I think it is beginning to look like one ! haa ! Anyway, popular is also having a 20% sale for the june hols so here I am again... going down to grab those books that I want ! Can't wait for the REAL hols to start... though it had already started for most ! Countdown !!

Ice Age 2

It was a record ! On Saturday, Shan and myself went out at 10am in the morning and came back home at 9pm at night !! A straight 11-hour shopping trip ! So tired but fun ! We walked and ate, walked and ate.. and buy .. and then we went for a movie, Ice Age 2 ! It was sooooooo funny ! The 'squirrel-like' animal, Scrat is sooo funny ! The last part when Sid (the sloth) saved him from death but actually prevented him from going to the Acorn Heaven ! So hilarious ! ha ha ha ... lol .... Anyway, all the characters in the show are so cute, the mammoths, the possums and the whole lot of small sloths that chant ! heee... Go watch it while you still can ! Very nice !

Nanny McPhee

Finally was able to take Shan for a movie. We watched Nanny McPhee and it was better than we thought ! It was FABULOUS ! I loved the movie ! Emma Thompson is incredible ! She is sooooooooo fantastic as Nanny McPhee... Go watch it ! It is not JUST a show for children.... there are many lessons or you should say life lessons to be learnt and it's quite touching too ! Go Go ... go watch !

Nanny McPhee is actually adapted from a book entitled Nurse Matilda and it is also a very readable book.

GOF DvD

It's out .. have you bought it yet? Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire DVD is out ! I didn't know it was out and I was shopping in Kinokuniya and 'ta da' .... I SAW IT ! Couldn't believe my eyes ! It was on the shelves but NO promotion for it ... only a 20% discount ! Good enough ... but quite sad though.. thought they would at least have a nice corner for it !

Anyway, loved the DVD especially the extra disc.. packed with goodies like interviews and stuff. Go your your copy today ! (Haa.. like I am a promoter for it !)

This holiday is just a mad rush for me... setting papers, clearing marking, running errands, finishing projects, etc... so sad.. don't even have time to spend with Shan.. at least not quality time ! sigh... hopefully I can find some time to do that !

Sick

Sigh... the weather has not been very good lately... many people are falling sick and I was not spared ! I had stomach flu yesterday and it was terrible ! I shall spare you the details how 'sick' I could get but I laid in bed the entire day and mind you, THE WHOLE DAY ! and my body just felt so weak !

Anyway, was feeling slightly better today but still lack the energy. Hopefully the march holidays can allow me to rest and rejuvenate ...

I think I am mad about Clamp's Manga... they are really first class ! lol... well illustrated and the stories are all so unique ! I am reading Tsubasa now but it is taking too long for the next book to be published.. I am getting impatient ! I would also recommend XXXHolic by Clamp too ! I bought many Clamp's art books because I simply adore their art ! Ok.. will write more next time !

Bought this HUGE Kogepan plush yesterday ! It is the size of a pillow and he sits on his own cushion. Cute isn't he? Haa... He is very huggable and he just look so adorable ! The CNY holidays are finally over ! Back to reality ! Sigh.... ok ok .. be positive ! Well, many teachers are still recovering from the 'sore throats' and loss of voice because I think we all ate too much CNY goodies ! Yum ! My fave are Pineapple tarts and bak kwa.

Anyway, if you are wondering what my blog depicts, here's what it is. The picture shows a creature? a bunny-like animal? (the one in white with pink long ears) whatever you may call it ... its name is Mokona. It is a cute little creature from the manga series Magic Knight Rayearth and it appears again in the new manga series, Tsubasa Chronicles by Clamp. I really like Mokona because it is .... CUTE? and lovable and bubbly and happy ! lol ... Mokona has a 'twin' you may call it.. a black one which looks exactly like it but just a different colour. Both Mokonas are called Mokona=Modoki .. the white is called Soel and the black is called Larg... interesting right? Well, if you want to find out more about them, go and read Tsubasa Chronicles. Very nice !

Ok, I think I have confused you all.... haa.. just sharing some of my 'mad' likings ! By the way, the above is a picture of the Mokona plush toys I own.. I have 4 of them ! haa..

I know I owe the 6SE 2005 girls a book.. but I really cannot seemed to finish it in the near future... so to appease them.. here is a poem about them, hope they'll like it:-

I once taught a class in two - o - o - five,
The six service girls were full of life !
They are very unique and each of character,
They all have their visions that I shall not deter.

One cannot deny they are extremely united,
Together they support each other, undaunted.
They all have their fears, they all have their tears,
They overcome them with all their cheers.

I am most privileged to have been a part of their lives,
Hopefully I have taught them all to be wise.
Not to expect anything in return,
Just to see them grow and their light brightly burn.

You have made an impact in my teaching life.

Lunar New Year

Happy Lunar New Year ! I'm sure all of you must be very happy ... with all the Ang Pows and goodies ! Well, this is a great time for children.... for adults, it is mainly time to meet up and spend $? haa.. Anyway, it's been a great holiday and I really had time to rest and do things I like to do... that is... watching DVDs - Corpse Bride, Tsubasa Chronicles, etc... Quite embarrassed to say (ur hrm), I have a few books I have yet to finish reading and hopefully I can get another long break to finish reading them !

Anyway, it's back to work tomorrow and I guess it's back to more marking ! See you around !

Well, i have to admit I have not been posting LOOOONG posts, so here it is.

Started the new year and it will be a very hectic year ! I am taking a P6 class again and it's really going to be rush rush rush again. My new class 6C is nice, the girls are quite well-behaved, except for a few (ur hem, you know who you are!). Anyway, they are really different from my 6SE girls, in terms of behaviour as well as personalities. It would be a totally new experience this year !

Hope I would be able to inspire them to work hard to do well for PSLE ! But most importantly, they must enjoy learning !

Go watch The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.... it's nice ! The special effects are awesome and I think the young actors and actresses are quite charming ! haa... The white witch is very good as in the actress selected for this role is truly suitable for the role. She is very attractive indeed and portray the icy queen very well.

Another fantastic show ! I think this year, I have watched 3 fantastic movies - Goblet of Fire, King Kong and now Narnia !

Go watch it !

Christmas Mood !

Getting into the Christmas mood now ! Have updated my blog pic to reflect a more 'Christmassy' one ! haa ! The song is also a christmas song sung by the Disney Characters ! I just loved Christmas, not so much about receiving presents but actually buying gifts for special people. It is really fun but also a big headache because there are too many choices around !

King Kong

Watched King Kong yesterday. Nice show ! It was very meaningful and the action scenes were great ! The ending was very touching and it was really sad to see the people capture him and to see him suffering... The actress Naomi Watts is very pretty and she was really suitable for the role. She just had that 'look' ... I thought she resembled Nicole Kidman. The show was 3-hour long but there were certain times I felt it was draggy.. but overall a 4-star movie... next one to watch.. Narnia!

Hi all ! I am back from Hong Kong... cold...... brrrrr..... Anyway, we went to HK Disneyland and though it was small, I really enjoyed all the shows there... fantastic ! The rides are so-so... nothing great.. Shan liked the Buzz Lightyear ride the best, we took the ride 4 times ! haa... I actually didnt want to go for the space mountain because I hate roller coaster rides.. I really AM FRIGHTENED of such rides... Because they even allowed Shan to go for the ride, I thought it wouldnt be scary but was I WRONG! I was screaming my lungs out ! You must think I am a scary cat .. yes I admit for such rides, I am ! lol.... Even Shan was ok with it ! *Shakes head* haa...

Bought lots of stuff... plushies, pins, etc... very happy!

Just came back from Ms Teh's wedding ! (Sorry 6SE girls, I was sworn to secrecy !) It was fun ! haa.... Enjoyed the food but most importantly, the people at my table were great ! haa... Lao Shi and I were wrecking our brains how to tease the newly weds ! E.V.I.L. !! haa ... We made the groom drink a mixture of liquor, red wine, beer and coke.. wasn't that a cool concoction ! hee..

Anyway, they are a lovely couple and I wish them happiness and a very wonderful life together.

6SE Book

To: 6SE girls, I guess I really owe you all the 6SE their book. But the sad truth is.. I have not even finish half of it ! Ok ok .. don't lash at me yet, listen to my explanation! I started planning for the book at the beginning of the year. It was meant to be a book about each and every one of the 6SE girls. Well, as you know... we have all been very busy and I managed to only write a few chapters (one short chapter for each pupil). But now that I looked back at what I have written for those chapters, they didn't seemed that accurate anymore. You girls changed quite a bit from beginning of the year till now. What I wrote at the beginning of the year was like 'out-dated'. So it is quite tough to write a story which has characters that changed ! haa... anyway, I hope to finish it when I have the inspiration so the published date for the book may be in ...... months time? No promises, but will try ! So sorry if I have disappointed you girls, it isn't easy really... sigh...

Well, there seemed to be lots of debating going on about who is more good-looking ? The Harry Potter cast that is... Is it Tom Felton, Daniel Radcliffe, Robert Pattison? haa.... Let me give my two-cents worth of how I view them ! Uh hrm....

Tom Felton - A suave-looking young man, not your usual good-looking guy but cute in the 'villian' way.. lol.. as least he is that kind that you won't get sick of looking after a while ! Not the goody-guy ... I would say.

Daniel Radcliffe - Can be considered good looking ... cute ... nice eyes ! Charming in a way, looks very gentlemanly... most girls would like him.... hee...

Robert Pattison - He is your guy-next-door kind. Looks very good as Cedric.. there are other pics of him that doesn't flatter him at all ! Anyway, he will be remembered as Cedric Diggory. Quite cute I would say, rosy cheeks, tall most importantly - nice smile !

Well, the time has finally arrived... for THE day ! Tomorrow to be exact ... tomorrow is the PSLE results day ! As dreadful as it may sound, we all have to face it anyway. I will be praying for the girls, I really hope they can get good grades but most importantly, get back to SCGS Secondary. I wonder if I can sleep tonight ! Sigh... let's all keep our fingers crossed. There will be fears and tears ... for joy and for disappointment but we must all face reality and after tomorrow, move on to where our paths may lead us ....All the best girls !

Holidays have started !

Finally, my holidays have actually started !! Yay !! lol .... In case you didn't realise, I was still in school for my work week (3 weeks to be exact!) .. yeah.. that's life ! Anyway, now that the holidays are here for me, I can actually do my own work at home - packing, cleaning, washing, etc.... what's new ? Today is a rest day for me, I think I have not slept so much in these 2 years ! lol... really ! I slept at 11.30pm yesterday, woke up at 9am, took a nap at 12noon and woke up at 4.30pm !! That's plenty of rest, don't you think ! Great to recuperate ! Now I am very energised ! haa...

Just booked a ticket to watch Goblet of Fire again tomorrow ! hee... Going alone so no distractions ! I think this won't be the last time I am watching it though ! Simply enjoy it !

Those who still have not watch it, GO GO !! Those who have not watch it the second time, GO WATCH it again and again and again ! LOL ..

Goblet of Fire

Just came back from Plaza Singapura... time now is 1.40am !! Just watched the preview of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and I must say "IT WAS FANTASTIC !!" I think it is the best yet of the entire series ! Fast pace and full of action.. loved the jokes and humour they put into this movie ! Laughed quite a bit ! hee... Ron was hilarious, Hermione is sooo pretty and Harry is cool as usual ! haa.. Oh, but there were sad moments too when Cedric Diggory died and Harry brought his body back ... tears flowed.. urm hmm... well, it was very touching!

Shan and Jephine went all dressed up in their Harry Potter cloak and robes for the show and did they make heads turn ! lol !! Oh, and not forgetting their wands too ! Anyway, it was indeed a memorable night !

Go watch it ! You won't regret it ! Trust me ! lol.... Might watch the second time if you ask me !

Socrates in Love

Was feeling bored last Saturday whilst waiting for Shan to finish her chinese class, so I went to the manga shop and bought a manga entitled 'Socrates in Love'. It is about a simple love story between two high school students but tragedy strikes when the girl falls ill with leukemia. It is a very touching story but the manga's artwork is not fantastic ! As the manga is an adaptation of the novel with the same title, I bought the novel too. Didnt' regret it because it is very well-written. The author really captured the feelings of the boy and his loss. If you want to read a real tear jerker, go read 'Socrates in Love' !!

Here are some excerpts from the book "That morning I woke up crying, as usual. I didn't know anymore whether I was sad or not - my feelings had flowed away with my tears." This part is where she died ... 'Aki started to say more, but it stayed in her mouth. She's going away, I thought. Leaving only a memory like a towering plane of glass, she was going away.'

I changed the music for my blog back to Canon in D.... need to get it in sync with my lovey dovey mood here ! lol !

I changed my blog music to the song "Dragostea Din Tei" by O-Zone. Actually it is not a new song but because Chicken Little was dancing to this tune so it made it popular again! The lyrics are in Romanian so we may not understand what they are singing but nevermind, the song is catchy so it's ok. Did you see how chicken little dance to this song? He is soooooooo cute !

Sky High

Met Erica, Jephine and Rachel for a movie yesterday. We watched Sky High and it was a very nice show! Simple storyline but tells a simple message that everyone is a hero and that hero support or side-kicks can be 'heroes' too! Enjoyed it very much!

We had pizza for dinner and went to Kinokuniya to look at some of the manga and books. Well, the night was still young so we decided to go for supper at this 24-hour Coffee Club outside California Fitness. It was a really nice place to sit and talk. We had to have our Chocolate Fondue and Ratio, Shan kept 'dumping' their fruits into the choc ! haa.... They learnt how to dip their fruits into the choc gracefully after a few tries heee...

Tired but fun girls night out !

This is Shan when she was about 2 years old ! She loved to play dress-up and I got her this rabbit suit because she was born in the year of the rabbit. Last Day of School

Today is the last day of school! I was controlling myself... I will NOT cry ! I was happy I didn't but when I started to read what the girls gave me .... I cannot control anymore ! The tears just won't stop ! Anyway, it is with mixed feelings I leave the class... 6SE 2005 is my first form class and I think I will REALLY REALLY miss all of them. Though we have gone through good and bad times but I truly enjoyed having them!

To the 6SE girls, thanks for your laughter, your cheers, your tears, your fears and every thing else! Thank you for making this one and a half years so memorable for me ! October 31st - Halloween ! We don't really celebrate Halloween here, at least not for me and my family. But I guess it is fun to get into the mood ! Just bought 2 Bossini Halloween Tees for Shan and we bought 2 hairbands (one bat and one devil's horns) to go with it ! haa.. Very cute !

Anyway, even though Halloween is linked to ghouls and things that are scary ... it is still fun to dress up in weird costumes and attend Halloween parties ! So for those who are going for a Halloween night party, HAVE A WILD TIME ! haa....

What a day ! I went down to Takashimaya to visit the Sanio Fair at B1. It was filled with Hello Kitty, My Melody, etc.. stuff and they even have things like Hello Kitty Digital camera ($99), Hello Kitty CD player and Hello Kitty Shower Head ! Ms Teh would have fainted seeing all these stuff ! haa... Anyway, I also went to Kinokuniya to get my diary ! My 2006 Kogepan diary ! Oh, but I didnt buy that, instead, I bought the Barbapapa diary instead. It was bigger and a more practical choice than the Kogepan one. Guess what ? I met 2 6SE girls in Kino... any guesses who? Lydia and Jephine ! heee... Coincidental? Yes...

Tomorrow is PSLE marking.... guess the girls have a long break before they come back on Monday.

Bought Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas DVD yesterday and enjoyed it soooo much ! It really had very good animation and the songs and images were very captivating! Tim Burton is indeed a genius. Today I went to watch his new movie, Corpse Bride.... it was fantastic ! The show was very touching and it was a bit too short, only 75mins ! The storyline was simple and to the point... and Johnny Depp lent his voice to the lead character, Victor... cool ! haa... Highly recommended ! Coming up... shows to watch: Narnia and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ..... can't wait!!

The teachers put up a performance for the girls for Children's Day. It would always be the highlight of the day.... the children will cheer for their teachers as this was the only time they would see their teachers 'act silly' !! haa !

P6 teachers came up with this "Mouse Loves Big Rice" dance performance..... We made the props and came up with the dance steps... not bad for a "two-day only rehearsal" performance huh ? Haa...

Hope the girls enjoy it as much as we did !

Went to watch Hinokio - a Japanese Movie ! The movie was in japanese but there were english subtitles so it was fairly easy to catch. It's about a boy named Satoru who became very reserved after his mother died in a car accident. He locked himself in his room for nearly a year and his father invented a robot (Hinokio) to 'represent' him to go to school. Satoru controls Hinokio from home and Hinokio allows him to see the world. It is a very nice and simple story about how Satoru finally came out of his world and be able to face it on his own. Very touching too... some tissues needed ! haa ! Go watch it if you can find time !

My tamagotchi has turned into a sort of 'weird-looking' creature... not a very cute pet to have though... actually it was my fault.. I did not really take care of it in the beginning so I had to be responsible for how it turned out. I actually thought of 'killing it off' .. hee sounds horrible I know ... resetting is the right word, ah ! But somehow, I don't have the heart to do it.

Think about it... it is the same case with humans isn't it? If we don't take care of our children when they were young, we don't teach them the right things so we have to be responsible for how they turn out... but after they did not grow up to what we expect them to be, we don't just give up on them, we just keep on taking care of them ... who knows they might be 'good' again !

So tamagotchi, I am going to continue to keep you and see what you eventually become, even if you are not cute ! heee....

Brought the girls to Science Center yesterday and had a great day of discovery ! Shan had always been interested in Science and she really enjoyed it. Look at her happy expression ! haaa !! It had been a while since we last visited the Science Center and they have added many new exhibits which were quite interesting. So do visit the Science Center when you are free !

P5 Campfire night

Just came back from the P5 campfire at Dairy Farm Adventure Centre and it was fun ! For the finale, the teachers presented an item called Singapore Beauty Pageant. I was Miss Bishan, Ms Teh was Ms Toa Payoh, Lao Shi was Ms Ang Mo Kio ... etc.. all the other teachers had a district name or the name of the MRT stations ! haa !

Anyway, Ms Teh and I were selected as finalists and we had to answer questions. I had to be the one who supports World Peace and Ms Teh acted as a one who only knew how to laugh and giggle. It was hilarious !
The girls voted for Mrs Chan who was Miss Choa Chu Kang ! Yeah... we all had fun just pretending to be beauty queens !

Bought a new gadget yesterday.. a Tamagotchi ! A mini one ! Sooooooo cute ! haaa.... The pet is called Mametchi but I don't know what it means though. Anyway, it is quite lovable and I wonder how long it will 'live' as I may forget to feed it or clear its 'poo' ! Will update about its growth progress in my coming posts.

I recently bought a DVD entitled Barbapapa. It is a very retro cartoon as I watched it when I was very young. It is about this jelly-like creature called Barbapapa (pink) and he can change into any form or shape he wants. Here is his picture. The other members are his wife, Barbamama (obvious name huh? haa), Barbazoo (yellow), Barbabeau (black), Barbalala (green), Barbalib (orange), Barbabright (blue), Barbabelle (purple) and Barbabravo (red). I don't know what is the name of the dog though... maybe Barbadots? or Barbaspots? hee..

Now the challenge, can you say all their names very quickly? Try ! Bet you can't do it ! It's a mouthful !Anyway, it is a very cute cartoon and it is indeed different from your normal pokemon, powerful girls, mickey mouse and all.

Well, it's been a long time since my last post. As usual, I was bogged down with all the marking and work... yeah.. what's new, you might say... but that's life for me !

Went to watch Charlie and the Chocolate factory on Saturday. It was a simple lovely movie and Johnny Depp is so adorable as Willy Wonka. He is most suitable for this role, just like his other roles in Tim Burton's movies.
Those who have not read the book by Roald Dahl, go read it and go watch the movie too !

I splurged whilst shopping on Saturday... bought a mp3 player - Creative Zen Nano Plus (black) and a digital camera - Olympus C-370 Zoom ... both were great deals so no regrets.

Harry potter

It has finally arrived ! The long awaited launch of the next Harry Potter book - Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince ! The book will be launched tomorrow at the various bookshops like Kinokuniya and Borders, etc.... For sure I will be going down to grab my copy ! BUT sadly, as I have ordered it, I will not get to read it till a few days later because they will need to deliver it to me. Anyway, I will go for the launch and get the feel of it. Maybe I will get Shan to carry a magic wand or something to get into the mood ! haa !

Actually I didnt know about Harry Potter until I watched the first movie HP and the Sorcerer's Stone on VCD. I liked it and started to buy the books and got addicted to them. I bought the adults version of both SS and COS. As for the POA, I bought the hard cover US version as that was my favourite book of the series. I recently bought the GOF adult's version and my NIE classmates bought the hard cover version of OOTP for me for my birthday. Now I will have the sixth book in a few days time... and a preview tomorrow.. can't wait !

So Harry Potter fans out there.... go grab your copy tomorrow... Borders open at 9am.... see u there ! haa !

Just came back from school... well ... not from work but went to watch MADCAPP ... It was FANTASTIC !! I am soooooooo impressed ! The band and the handbell choir was so good.... very high standard ! The dance performed by the girl guides was also very nice.. they danced to Michael Jackson's Black and White... I think the most enjoyable item was the drama put up by the drama society and also the finale by the choir ! They can sing and dance very well. What a talented group of people ! It was really a great performance.

Many teachers went and I think everyone enjoyed themselves... it was indeed a fantastic show ! Bravo SCGS!

Have you ever been addicted to something? Well, chocolates aside.... I mean... when u see that certain thing, you just cannot resist eating it or getting it ! There are these machines called the 'Gashapon' or pronounced as 'Gatcha' in japanese. Why are they named 'Gatcha' ? It is because of the sound they make. I bet you have seen them and they are those machines that when you put in money ($1 coins to be specific) and you turn the dial... one capsule pops out! The sound 'gatcha' is made when the dial is turned. Inside the capsule are some very lovely items .. like soft toys, figures, fun toys, magnets, etc.... Ur hmm.... I am now quite addicted to it because, it just makes me feel very lucky if I can get the one I want ! haa !! But need alot of self discipline to stop when you can't get it ! If not, you will be spending a fortune on it !

First tooth

We are into the last week of the hols.... fast isn't it ? AND I STILL HAVE LOTS NOT DONE !!! yeah... that's my hols... Anyway, looking forward to the class gathering on Monday and relaxing for once.

Oh, Shan's first tooth came off yesterday !! Here's how it happened. We were at Marina Square and Mr. Kam (as usual) let Shan bite his finger .... it's something that he let Shan do when she was a toddler and still does now ! When Shan did that, the already shaky tooth came off and she was shocked ! She started crying! There was blood and I guess she was frightened. We didn't know what happened... until I saw the hole where the tooth was supposed to be.. haaa.... we comforted her and then went back to look for the tooth ! hee.. But couldn't locate it... must have been kicked away ... Anyway, she is now one tooth less and she is very conscious. She doesn't speak much now.. she smile sweetly that's all ... vain right? lol ! Well, I bought a tooth container (in the shape of a tooth obviously!) to put her milk teeth... but too bad we lost the first tooth... we'll have to wait for more to come !

One week has passed ... or nearly over... what have I been doing? I was BUSY packing !! Packing the entire house... rearranging the furniture, throwing away stuff I didn't touch for years.... But till today, I am only three-quarter done... my bedroom and study room are very very neat now and hopefully they stay that way for a long time ! Tomorrow I am going out so have to stop packing for a day... Shan's room will be next... and then the kitchen and then it is CLEAN !! FINALLY !!!

Quite embarrassed to say I have not done such a major cleaning job in years.... was sooo busy and lazy to do cleaning at such a large scale. But because there are VIPs visiting the house soon... so I think I better make it a point to clean up. Actually it is good.. it actually forces me to pack .. if not I would have deferred the packing process till don't know when... haa !

So once my house is clean, I won't be rejecting people's request to visit me ! haa... Ok, more later..

On Saturday, I met the girls for lunch at Wheelock and then later at Bugis as they wanted me to join them for neoprints. This is my first try at Neoprints after 5 years (I think!) I took my first neoprint when Shan was about 4 months old. The machines these days are soooo advance and so complicated ! It was really fun and I really had a very memorable experience ! Thanks girls !

The teachers went for a bowling competition today. It was a get-together and it was sooooooo fun ! We were in groups of 10 and there were 5 teams. We all bowled and whether we were professionals or not... we bowled ! In the drains, balls going haywire and stuff... it doesn't matter ! It was just for fun! I was the team leader but did not do well because it had been a long long time since I last went bowling..... Anyway, we cheered like how 6SE would cheer ... and suddenly I felt like I was one of the 6SE girls ! I even sound like them when I cheered for my team ! haa !! Anyway, we came in 4th but it was just for the fun of it and we really enjoyed ourselves.
Hopefully we can get to go again to 'de-stress' !

New Manga

Went to Kinokuniya at Takashimaya today to look at books again, one of favourite hobby, you may say. Bought 2 new books for Shan - Where the wild things are and The Prince who wrote a letter. The first book is a fantasy story about a naughty boy who went into a 'world' where the wild things are and there he was made king of the wild things. He then decided that it wasn't that much fun being wild and mischevious and missed home. The second is about how rumours and misunderstandings could start a war if not properly managed. Lovely stories.

I bought a new manga for myself ... entitled "Baron, the Cat Returns". I don't know if anyone of you have seen the movie of the same title "The Cat Returns". It is about a girl who saved a cat and in return was asked to marry the cat prince in gratitude. Of course she panicked ! How can a human girl marry a cat? But the cat king forced it upon her and whisked her away to the cat kingdom. So the story continues with the girl, Haru trying to escape from the cat kingdom with the help of some good friends. Very nicely illustrated and a wonderful story about friendship and fantasy.

There is also a book I want to recommend called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. The title sounds weird right? But it is such a nice simple book about an autistic boy who came across a dead dog and he wanted to find out who was the murderer and so the story begins. Written from his point of view, the language is very simple and very innocent. A good book for light reading and it is a very touching story.

Report Book Day

Today was report book day and yes, meeting the girls' parents again. The girls were really worried that we will 'expose' their 'wrong-doings' to their parents ! haa !! But we are very nice people, so we did not complain that much !

Anyway, it was a good session and hopefully we are able to get the girls back on track and really gear them towards PSLE. So girls ! Get your energy level up during the holidays... play hard and study hard too! When you get back from the June hols, be ready to start your engines for the ride towards your DESTINATION - PSLE !

Brought the girls on an excursion today - to Kampong Glam. Frankly, it was my first time there ! Can't you believe it? So embarrassing that I have not been there before ! Anyway, it was really a good experience. I think the girls enjoyed the trip as much as I did. Our host or guide, Ms Joanna, was so good and I think it was because of her explanation of the various places that made the trip even more meaningful. She could get the attention of the 6SE girls, so definitely she must be GOOD !! haa !!

Besides looking at the various sights, we also did some shopping and it was very fun ! I even had a go at playing with the top and I succeeded !! haa !! So proud of myself and to have the girls cheering for me ! haa !!

Anyway, it had been an enjoyable trip, one of the more meaningful ones we have been. Hope to be able to go on such trips in future.

Sigh... exams are here again! Frankly, I can now 'relax' a little because I have cleared all the required marking (besides exam marking). The stress however, is still there ! I feel the pressure for the girls. For the EL paper, they are just giving their 'normal' standard which I think they should have done better than that. Maybe my expectations are high but I really think that I should see an improvement. Some of the girls did well... there was great improvement but not for some. I hope to see where they are weak at and help them improve in the next exams.... well, I hope I can help them reach their goals !

I can't believe that I actually bought Tsubasa - a new manga title ! It is quite a nice change from my 'normal' reading. Well, I think I treat it as light reading whilst waiting for the new Harry Potter book to be out in June/July. Erm girls, don't be too surprise that your teacher actually reads manga too ! hee..

The girls are into writing these days. They are becoming little authors ! It is definitely a good thing, at least they can make full use of their free time to do something meaningful. Frankly, I am influenced by them. Now I am writing a book or should I say, a short storybook about 6SE. There will be a total of 40 chapters, one for each pupil in the class. Mmmm... I should also add in 3 chapters - one for each teacher too ! Hopefully I can finish it by year-end so that I can give them a copy each as a farewell gift. Haa... maybe I am too ambitious... but I really hope I can accomplish this 'mission' !!

Finally managed to decorate Shan's room to make it 'HER" room ! Bought her a new bed, a new desk and moved all her toys into the room. She even wanted me to buy this door sign that says "Our princess' room" or another that says "The world's best daughter's in here" ... talked about 'thick skin" !! haa ! Anyway, will not buy that, will make a personal one for her with her name....

Got the girls to try out mind-mapping today. I was really surprised ! They can do it very well and it was quite successful. Hopefully, I can use it to teach them how to summarise their work for revision.

Everyone is into blogging now... there is even this commentary programme (in chinese) that discusses this topic. There is this girl who commented "Why do people want to know more friends through the web, haven't they got enough friends?"... I was just thinking.... is that question valid or not? My personal view is... there is no limit to making friends... the more the merrier... but there is a limit to how close or how much you want to reveal to this 'web' friend. It is always quite dangerous to tell someone you are not too close, everything about yourself. It is sort of exposing oneself and make yourself vulnerable.

We all have many friends in life. At any point in time, we may only have one or two very close ones which we can really relate to. Even though there may be circumstances that we may drift apart from each other, we know that deep inside, we are still good friends. How do we 'prove' it? When we meet up, we still have lots to talk about. We won't feel like strangers at all. Good friends should be as such... no matter how far away from each other or how long you have not talked or met, you can still communicate and still have lots to share with each other.

I personally have a few very close friends and we do try to keep in contact. It is actually very difficult because we have our own families and all. The surprising thing about being friends is that everytime we meet, we have soooo much to say to each other, we will still gossip and all the girls talk !! haa ! Though sometimes it may no longer be of the same topic that we used to talk about, but we are still willing to listen to each other and share our concerns as well.

To those out there who are facing 'friendship' problems, this is for you...
Remember that friendship is a work of heart, so give all you've got into it. Disregard what you have done for your friends and remember what they have done for you. It takes a long time to 'grow' a friend, so if it is already blooming, try to keep it going. If it has not, then you must be patient to wait for it to grow !! It will definitely bloom one day !!

Corn

It's amazing ! The other corn had actually BLOOMED !! There were another 3 or 4 more corn plants that had male flowers sprouting out from the leave joints. We actually thought there was no hope for them until yesterday when we visited them, we actually saw the 'miracle' !!

Yeah ! Now we can polinate the white corn with the red corn to get a 'Singapore' corn !! Haa ! Anyway, think of it this way... we should never give up on anyone or anything... just because they are slower developers doesn't mean they won't succeed.... so the corn experience just proves it right!

Go take a look at the wonder of nature... enjoy the fruit of labour !

I am totally, utterly, saddened by what happened yesterday. I fully understand the pressure the girls are going through and how they are feeling. The pressure is building up as the SA1 is coming and I am sorry I cannot give less work because it is really not possible. The reality is that this is the CRITICAL year... the work must be done ! The practice has to be intense ! Everyone must work towards PSLE, keep their mind focus on that !

The girls who stood up for what is right, I APPLAUD YoU ! You were very courageous and a true blue friend ! I admired your courage and this showed how much you know the importance of studies and meaning of life. Sorry that this has affected your friendship but it is through all these things that makes or breaks a friendship, I guess we all have to learn that !

I am here to teach, to 'INSPIRE" which I won't claim I did and most importantly, to guide the girls on the right track ! Not to mention, help them retain their values... I don' t expect the girls to 'like' me, at least this is not the purpose of being a teacher, but at least give me the respect I deserve as a TEACHER, that's all I ask.... to be described as bxxxxx is really an 'achievement' and I think I will need to reflect on that !

Anyway, what is said is said, what is done is done... hopefully they will understand what's best for them and then I'll rest my case.....

Just came back from Mediacorp..... not that I went for an audition or something, but it was for the recording of Singapore's Brainiest Kid.

Dilys invited some of us to watch the recording and it was indeed an eye-opener !! The setting was not so grand as we see on TV. The lighting was great and the place was cold...... Anyway, I am just amazed at how long recording takes and to see the poor children standing there for hours and hours just to get the right take !

It was really, really fun and Lynn, Valen and Jephine were the best people to invite for such events ! Why? Because they can really cheer ! Well, they are from 6SE ... so they must know how to cheer, right? haa ! I even made 3 A4 signs which says 'GO DILYS, U ROCK' and the girls were using that to display their cheer !

Dilys wore a pink blouse and a pink skirt, with pink shoes ! She was indeed PINK from head to toe ! Ms Teh would have loved to see her in that !! haa !! It was very exciting seeing them answer the questions and of course, if Dilys got it right, we will be cheering 'silently' in our hearts ! Though Dilys did not make it to the final stage, I think she did very well and she did her parents and all of us proud.

When the show ended, the girls went up to Cheryl Fox for an autograph and phototaking as well. For the other juicy bits, I will leave it to the girls to write it in their blog... especially the one on the burping ! haa ! Lynn... remember to write in your blog !

Last but not least, I feel really great to be able to attend an actual recording and to know how much work is required to actually produce a show. Though it was a long 5-hour recording, it was just fun being with the girls as well as Dilys' parents ! What can I say ! It had been a unforgetable experience !

I am sick... caught the flu bug and I feel terrible !

Anyway, I was the tester for 5P today and some of them were quite good conversationalists ! Looking at them remind me of the 6SE girls when they were in P5 ! Still quite innocent ! Haa... not that they are not innocent anymore but are now more caught up with more work and loads of peer pressure ! Just hope that they don't forget their values in the midst of their 'busy' schedule ! Getting good grades is just one aspect ... having a good character and a good heart is MOST IMPORTANT !

Anyway, *sniff*sniff*cough*cough* ... sorry... got to rest early tonight to get my energy back... whether it is potential or kinetic .... I need them !!

Hey, did anyone see my corn flower? It is sooooo lovely ! I must go and take a photo of it tomorrow morning !

Sports day

Sports day is over ! It was quite fun being a photographer but it was hot, hot, hot ! I think my freckles just doubled in number ! Some of the girls were complaining about their pimples popping out too ! haa !! Anyway, it was very exciting watching the girls compete. I just hope the winners will continue to keep up their good work and those who did not come in as winners, not to be discouraged but maintain a good 'sportswomanship' to try harder the next round.

I was told that our class spirit is very strong and it was a great feeling ! I really feel the bond amongst the girls and even if there are cliques, or squabbles amongst the girls but when it comes to class performances, they will always cheer for each other ! Whoa ! That's the spirit ! haa ! Not that I am boasting about them, but I just wanted them to know it is really a difficult thing to come by - to have supportive classmates and friends.

Ok, enough for today... oh ! just one more thing ! My corn has male flowers ! yippee !! It's the white corn ! So we will have a pure white coloured corn ! How ironic ! haa ! Well, let's see if the purple one can grow as well, then we can polinate both and get a mix- coloured one !

Let's talk about my hobby ! Collecting soft toys... I don't know when I started this hobby.... I guess I was deprived in my childhood days. My parents thought that soft toys were a waste of money and I didn't get to buy any. Now that I am earning a salary and all, I can get them with little guilt ! haa !

I don't collect just ANY soft toy ! It has to be unique, one of the kind. I collect book pals .. the character plush for children's books, Harry Potter plush.. I have about 5 Harry's, 4 Hermione's, 4 Ron's and all the other characters in the story - Hedwig, Scabbers, Buckbeak and all ... Mind you, each is different ! Haa !

Next, my Japanese plush collection ! I collect Kogepan plush as well... as well as Sushi Plush... I also like any other cute plush that is unique !

Anyway, I am running out of space to put them but I am not stopping there.... will somehow find a place for them ! My precious ! haa !

Carmen

Today is Carmen's last day in school ! It has finally come to the time to say goodbye. It was really difficult for them to say goodbye and for me, I felt sad that she had to go. Carmen is a bright girl and it was indeed a pleasure teaching her.

The entire class were crying during their chinese lesson and I wasn't in class, and that's lucky for me because I would have joined them in tears ! Haa !

Anyway, I know the girls were very sad and it was indeed a sad moment. I can sense the unity amongst them and that was a good feeling. The friendship bond is so strong and it will definitely hurt !

Well, in life there is nothing more valuable than friends, especially good friends and I would like to dedicate this verse to the 6SE girls and Carmen :-

I am drained... flat...

Need another holiday ! A longer one !!! Sigh !!

Ok, let's talk about something else, something happier ! I just bought 3 bars of cadbury chocolate ! Yum ! They were having a sale at Watsons, only $1.95 for a medium size bar ! Cheap isn't it ! I bought my fav - diary milk and fruit and nut. It's so sinful but ....... need it to reduce the stress !! hee !!

Watched the Lord of the Rings on Sunday and yesterday night ... it was FANTASTIC ! Even though I have watched it before, it still got me glued to the chair and eyes on the TV. Will watch the Two Towers this weekend on DVD and then if still not enough, I will BUY the DVD box set for the Trilogy ! haa !

Term 2 starts tomorrow ! How fast time passes ! Well, hope the girls enjoyed the holidays while we teachers catch up with our work as well as spending time with the family.

My corn ! I think they would have dried up ! So many days without water and the weather these days are soooo DRY ! I can smell the burnt smell every day ! Sigh...

On friday, we went to Swenson's to have a BD dinner and I am given a free ice-cream sundae as a BD treat from the restaurant. I chose the Topless 5 and as the name implied, 5 entire scoops of ice-cream without any toppings - nuts, whipped cream, biscuits, etc... nothing ! zap ! zero ! just ice-cream ! Yummy ! Guess what flavours I chose ? Sticky chewy choc, choc frosted malt, choc chip, cookies and cream and ... Strawberry ! (to break the monotony !) Haa ! mainly chocolate ! Slurp !

Just added a new plush collection - Sushi rice ball ! My fav food ! hee ! Oh, as for Kogepan, not that I like to eat burnt bread, but because his story is such a unique one ! Kogepan RULES?? haa !

Supplementary

I didn't realised that so 'many' people were waiting for me to post.... so here it is.... haa !

These two days of supplementary lessons were even worse than normal days... the girls were OUT OF CONTROL ! They are physically here but their minds and hearts are somewhere else... in cinemas, at home with their pets or any other activities to do in the holidays ! Sigh.... Just hoping when school reopens, they will behave themselves !! Get it girls?

Oh, I was very touched and a little embarrassed when the girls sang the BD song ... it has been quite a while and a LOOOOOONG time that a huge group of people sing the BD song to ME !! haa ! Thanks girls !!

Bought some Hi-Fi vcds and Barbie Fairytopia for Shan to watch during the hols... I am too busy to play with her this short holiday so had to get something to occupy her time. Quite guilty ... but what to do? I must try to at least spend one entire day with her without work interference.
